Why does reflux occur?
Heartburn is a very unpleasant, burning to painful sensation behind the breastbone. It occurs when stomach contents flow back into the oesophagus, also known as reflux. The acid, which performs important digestive functions in the stomach itself, irritates the sensitive mucous membrane in the oesophagus.
It is therefore usually not a matter of too much stomach acid, but rather that the acid is in the wrong place. If reflux occurs frequently, it can lead to inflammation of the oesophagus and, in the long term, the risk of cell degeneration increases.
Bad fats, sugar and alcohol
Heartburn mainly occurs when the lower oesophageal sphincter muscle relaxes. The composition of the food has a major influence on the tension of the muscle.
Bad Fatty acids (trans fats) and spicy meals, sweet foods, caffeine and alcohol reduce this tension. Chaga mushroom granules as Tea infusion or in Drop shape on the other hand, strengthens muscle tension and ensures that stomach acid stays where it belongs.
